The vultures fell victim to diclofenac poisoning; the incident unfolded when dead livestock were carelessly left in open fields. Alongside the nine vultures, two seals also died of the poisoned meat, highlighting the broader impact of human negligence on vulnerable wildlife.
Efforts to mitigate the crisis, the injured vultures were swiftly transported to the Rani Belguri Vulture Conservation Breeding Center for urgent treatment.
