Digital desk: A devastating incident happened at Tatibama, West Guwahati. Nine vultures died tragically on Tuesday, highlighting the critical endangerment facing these majestic birds. Among these, four were Lahituti vultures, a species crucial to Himalayan ecosystems.

The vultures fell victim to diclofenac poisoning; the incident unfolded when dead livestock were carelessly left in open fields. Alongside the nine vultures, two seals also died of the poisoned meat, highlighting the broader impact of human negligence on vulnerable wildlife.

Efforts to mitigate the crisis, the injured vultures were swiftly transported to the Rani Belguri Vulture Conservation Breeding Center for urgent treatment. However, this event serves as a stark reminder of the negligence of such wild life and the pressing need for concerted conservation efforts and public education to safeguard these essential members of our ecosystems.
