A thorough search of the vehicle led to the discovery of 41 soap boxes containing heroin concealed inside the door panel.


Digital Desk: Acting on specific intelligence,  Law enforcement stopped an Alto (AS 21 M 1450) at Amingaon, suspected by the authority that it is transporting  drugs  from Jirighat (Silchar) on the Assam-Manipur border to lower Assam through Kamrup.

 The investigation of the vehicle led to the discovery of  41 soap boxes holding heroin which was hidden inside the door panels. The seized narcotics amounted to 533 grams (half a kg and 33 grams) without packaging.

The suspects Sajmul Laskar and Mrinal Hussain of  Makhan Nagar residents were driving from Jirighat (Silchar) when police arrested them on the spot. The authorities started the required legal actions against the detained suspects.

The street value estimation for the heroin amounts to ₹4 crore. The successful seizure demonstrates the local initiative to stop drug trafficking activities in the area.
