Digital Desk: Sonia Gandhi, the Congress' parliamentary party chief said on Tuesday that the women's reservation bill "is ours" amid speculations that it would be tabled in Parliament.

The Congress said it welcomed the reported move as the party has been raising the demand for a long.

When asked about the bill on Tuesday as she entered Parliament, Sonia Gandhi replied, "It is ours, apna hai."

Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh earlier stated, "We welcome the reported decision of the Union Cabinet and await the details of the Bill." "This could have very well been discussed in the all-party meeting before the Special Session, and consensus could have been built instead of operating under a veil of secrecy," he further added.

P Chidambaram, a senior leader of the Congress, said if the government introduced the women's reservation bill on Tuesday, it would be a "victory for the Congress and its allies in the UPA government".

On March 9, 2010, the Rajya Sabha passed the bill during the UPA government. However, it was not discussed in the Lok Sabha.
