Digital Desk: Olympic Medalist boxer Lovlina Borgohain defeated China's Li Qian in the semifinals of the 75 kg division to advance toward the World Boxing Championships final. She defeated the silver medalist from the Tokyo Olympics 4-1 in a split decision.

Following Lovlina's victory in the first round, her Chinese opponent responded in the second. The Indian boxer maintained her composure and won the match in the decisive round. She previously promised India a silver medal and said she will compete for a gold medal in the final. Moreover, Lovlina will be competing in the WBC final for the first time.

Borgohain, on Wednesday, March 22, assured India a medal after beating Rady Gramane of Mozambique. She won a third medal to her collection in the tournament's history by 5-0 defeating the bronze medalist from the previous year's World Championships. After a unanimous decision, the 25-year-old won.

Nitu, Saweety, and Nikhat also advanced to the final

Earlier in the day, Nikhat Zareen  defeated Ingrit Valencia of Colombia wasby  in the 50 kg semifinal by a unanimous decision. After defeating Kazakhstan's top seed Alua, boxer Nitu Ghanghas, 22, of the 48kg division advanced to the competition's final.

Saweety Boora also qualified for the 81kg final in addition to Lovlina, Zareen, and Nitu. Australian Emma Greentree was defeated by her. By a 4-3 split decision, the 30-year-old Hisar player won the battle. India had guaranteed themselves at least four silvers in the competition owing to his victory.
