Digital Desk: Chandrayaan-3 is scheduled to land on the lunar surface at 6.04 pm today. As a result of the sincere efforts of the scientists of ISRO, India's dream of landing on the south pole of the moon is on the verge of becoming successful. It is proud to witness that on the path to this success, two eminent Assamese are moving forward with the scientific team of ISRO.

These two scientists are Chayan Dutta of Lakhimpur and Nidhi Sharma of Tinsukia. After completing her graduation Nidhi from North Lakhimpur College completed her higher education from Tezpur Central University. She is currently working as a scientist at the U R Rao Satellite Centre(URSC).

Nidhi hails from Assam’s Barak Valley and her parents are settled in New Delhi.

It needs to be mentioned that these two Assamese scientists were also associated with Chandrayaan-2. 

The Chandrayaan-3 mission, with an allocated budget of ₹600 crore, was launched on July 14 atop the formidable Launch Vehicle Mark-III (LVM-3) rocket. After a 41-day journey, the spacecraft has positioned itself near the lunar south pole in preparation for its daring landing attempt.

The module is currently undergoing meticulous internal checks and is positioned to await the break of dawn at the predetermined landing site. The delicate powered descent phase, which aims to achieve a soft landing on the moon's surface.
