Telecom operators worldwide are gaining traction in the 5G space, but they're also working to bring 6G mobile networks to market by 2030.
Digital Desk: While the 5G network has yet to be widely deployed, Nokia's CEO Pekka Lundmark has stated that 6G mobile networks will be commercially available by 2030.
According to GizmoChina, Lundmark stated at the World Economic Forum in Davos that he does not believe cell phones would be the most "common interface."
"By then, the smartphone as we know it today will most likely no longer be the most prevalent interface," Lundmark said.
He went on to say, "Many of these things will be built directly into our bodies."
Lundmark didn't go into great depth about how or what this will look like, but he did suggest that by 2030, there will be a "digital twin of everything," requiring "vast computational resources."
According to the report, businesses have already invested heavily in 6G.
