Guwahati: Separation with your canine could be painful, but it becomes more painful if you cannot adieu him properly. But now onwards, Guwahatians can adieu their pet dignifiedly as a Guwahati-based Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) has taken the initiative to do so.

As per the report, ‘Just Be Friendly’ (JBF), an NGO from Guwahati has come up with the dog burial project at the Mairakuchi area in the outskirts of Guwahati.

The NGO claimed that the burial sites had been projected in a land of two bighas.

Till now, around 10 dogs have been cremated and memorial columns have been built in the dog cemetery to give these pooch the dignified farewell they deserve.

JIRAW- a JBF joined care and resource center for animals will organize the burial facilities with a reasonable donation. The Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) will handle the pickup facilities.

Moreover, to decrease the number of birth among stray dogs, the project will also provide birth control services.

“One can cremate their furry friend in a dignified way here, this burial ground is not only a mere place to cremate your canine but it is also to memoire the good and bad times you share with your furry friend.” JBF Public Relation Officer Gangotri Borgohain.

Further, Borgohain informed that for the maintenance of the burial ground, the NGO has to spend Rs. 1000 per week.
