Mumbai: Evergreen silver-screen star Hema Malini, who is also popularly known as the ‘Dream Girl’ of Hindi cinema turned 73 on Saturday.
Malini, who was born to a Tamil Brahmin family in Ammankudi, Tamil Nadu, acted in a number of prominent Tamil and Hindi films. She made her silver screen debut in the Tamil film named ‘Idhu Sathiyam’ in 1963. Besides, in 1986 she stepped onto the Hindi film industry with a lead role opposite to megastar Raj Kapoor in the romantic film ‘Sapno Ka Saudagar’.
However, with her role in the films like Dev Anand’s celebrated 'Johny Mera Naam' and few others, the star really begin to evolve as an actor. The industry started noticing that she could act shoulder to shoulder with some of the biggest stars of the industry like Anand. Besides, she also started proving her versatility as an actor in her later films which turned her into one of the most successful actresses of her generation in the Hindi film industry.

In 1973 she received her first Filmfare award. In 2000 she won the Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award for her celebrated career in the industry spanning over decades.
On the occasion of this special day, her daughter and actor Esha Deol posted a beautiful picture of her and her mother on social media. In the picture both of them are seen holding hands, in gorgeous ethnic outfits.
With the picture Deol also gave her heartfelt wishes to her mother. “Happy birthday mamma! Stay blessed, happy and healthy. Always by your side through thick and thin, Your Bittu,” said Deol.
