AR Rahman's song saved life! reacts to music producer's post overcoming his suicidal thoughts

AR Rahman's popular song 'Naane Varugiren' from the album 'Ok Kanmani' saved one of his listeners' life...

Digital Desk: AR Rahman, the Oscar-winning composer and singer, has a large fan base. From his soul-stirring voice to his exceptional songs, everything has been nothing ephemeral of joy for admirers.

In the latest incident, Selvakumar. D, a Malasian-born music producer and a prominent music producer, recently took to Twitter to announce that he was about to commit suicide when one of his friends messaged him to listen to AR Rahman's song "Naane Varugiren" from the Ok Kanmani album.

"It was Ok Kanmani Album, and the first title I saw was "Naane Varugiren" and I just played that song," the producer wrote while explaining the story. "I'm not sure what happened to my mind after hearing 'Poolatha en ithayam.' I returned home and shut myself in my room for over 48 hours with only my headphones and this song on repeat." he added.

He went on to say that he had been teleported to another universe."I then realised that I wasn't in the position I was in by cutting my life short, and this song saved my life." It's now more of a song for me than a life."

Selvakumar then mentioned how crying till he was dizzy helped him to feel better. After hearing "Chinnanjiru Chinnanjiru ragasiyame," I sobbed all the way to my lungs from the pain it caused me. At that point, I understood how valuable a life of perseverance was. Too many setbacks in my music career have made me feel that I can't save my art, he continued.

"All praise be to God!" AR Rahman immediately responded after reading the same. 

Mani Ratnam's 'Ponniyin Selvan: Part 2' was AR Rahman's most recent composition. 'Mari Selvaraj's Maamannan', his forthcoming film, will hit theatres on June 29. 

Additionally, he is working on more than six films. His forthcoming projects include the films "Maidaan," "Pippa," "Aadujeevitham," "Laal Salaam," "Ayalaan," "Gandhi Talks," "Chamkila," "Tere Ishk Mein," and an untitled movie involving Mani Ratnam and Kamal Haasan.
