Digital Desk: It seems history is all set to repeat itself with Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel ‘Gadar 2’ in terms of its box office collection. The film, which is a sequel to the 2001 classic 'Gadar: Ek Prem Katha,' has become the second-highest opener of 2023 after Shah Rukh Khan's 'Pathaan'. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the film is anticipated to earn Rs 35 crore on its first day, trailing only 'Pathaan', which did an opening of Rs 57 crore. 

After ‘Gadar 2’, the other Hindi films in the list in terms of opening day numbers are Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan (Rs 15.81 crore), Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar (Rs 15.73 crore), Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani (Rs 11.10 crore), and Bholaa (Rs 11.20 crore).

Hours before the film's release, trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted that the film has sold 2,74,000 seats in advance booking in national chains.

"#Gadar2 FINAL advance booking status at *national chains* [till Thu night]… Note: DAY 1 biz… #PVR: 1,16,000 #INOX: 1,01,000 #Cinepolis: 57,000 Total: 2,74,000 tickets sold," he tweeted.

Directed by Anil Sharma, the story of the film starts from where it was left in the prequel. This time, Tara Singh goes to Pakistan to bring back his son (Utkarsh Sharma).
