Digital Desk: The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) on Thursday released a new report on the so-called "unidentified anomalous phenomenon" (UAP), also known as unidentified flying objects or UFOs.
The US Space Agency said that it is appointing a director of UAP research in response to a recommendation by an independent study team that NASA plays a more prominent role in understanding UFOs.
During the press conference, questions regarding the UFO hearing in Mexico's Congress that featured the presentation of alleged remains of non-human beings had been aimed at NASA officials. David Spergel, the former head of the astrophysics department at Princeton University and chair of the UAP report, stated he was unsure of the samples' nature but urged transparency.
Spergel stated, "This is something that I have only seen on Twitter. When you have unusual things, you want to make the data public."
"We don't know the nature of those samples," he said.
"If you have something strange, make samples available to the scientific community," Spergel told the Mexican government.
'Alien Bodies' Presented In Mexican Congress
Jaime Maussan, a journalist from Mexico and long-time UFO enthusiast, presented two miniature "bodies" to the politicians during the session on Tuesday. They were displayed in cases along with three fingers on each hand and elongated heads.
In his presentation, he stated that the remains were found near Peru's historic Nazca Lines and that Mexico's National Autonomous University (UNAM) had been carbon-dated and concluded that they were around 1,000 years old.
Maussan asserted that they were not related to any Earthly species.
"I think there is a clear demonstration that we are dealing with non-human specimens that are not related to any other species in our world, and that all possibilities are open for any scientific institution... to investigate it," stated Maussan.
"We are not alone," he continued.
