Pakistan Blast: Massive explosion in Pakistan’s Sialkot Garrison, no casualty

Notably, the incident occurred at a time when Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan is struggling to save his government after two opposition parties filed a no-confidence motion in Parliament.

Digital Desk: A massive explosion took place in the northern Pakistan's Sialkot on Sunday, ANI reported citing the local media. Reportedly, the bomb was said to have been heard near the cantonment area in Punjab province.

ARY News citing Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), said that an unintentional fire broke out in the Sialkot Garrison; however, no casualty was reported.

Moreover, ISPR reported that an unintentional fire broke out in the ammunition shed near Sialkot Garrison due to short-circuiting.

“As a result of the quick and excellent response, the damage was quickly limited and the fire has been extinguished. There was no damage to property or loss of life,” according to the military’s media wing.

“Pakistan's - Multiple explosions at the Sialkot military base in northern Pakistan. Initial indications are this is an ammunition storage area. A large fire is burning. Cause as yet unverified,” Rishi Suri, editor of The Daily Milap, said in a tweet.

Meanwhile, several people have also posted videos of the incident, alleging that multiple explosions occurred in the region. Thick columns of grey and black smoke can be seen rising from the site in the videos.

The Sialkot cantonment, one of Pakistan’s oldest and most important army bases, is close to the city. It was established in 1852 by the British Indian Army.

Notably, the incident occurred at a time when Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan is struggling to save his government after two opposition parties filed a no-confidence motion in Parliament and a revolt broke out inside his own ruling coalition.

On March 8, more than 100 lawmakers from the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) filed a no-confidence motion with the National Assembly Secretariat, alleging that Imran Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) government was to blame for the country’s economic crisis and spiralling inflation.
