Police issue arrest warrant for murderer of Indo-Canadian Pawanpreet Kaur
On April 18, police detained two of his family members in Moncton, New Brunswick. They were identified as Amarjit Dhaliwal, 50, and Pritpal Dhaliwal, 25.

Digital Desk: A Canada-wide arrest warrant has been issued by law enforcement for the alleged murderer of a 21-year-old Indo-Canadian woman who was killed in December last year.

Young Indo-Canadian Pawanpreet Kaur, a resident of the township of Brampton in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), was the victim of the homicide on December 3 night. She was shot many times in what police officials initially classified as a potential "targeted incident" and was pronounced dead the next day, several hours later.

The Homicide Bureau of the Peel Regional Police (PRP) said in a statement on Monday that it "has identified the person responsible for this fatal shooting" and that an arrest warrant for 30-year-old Dharam Singh Dhaliwal for the crime of First Degree Murder has been issued. The announcement continued, "Dharam Dhaliwal purposefully vanished in September 2022, but the investigation has shown that this was part of a plan in the murder of Pawanpreet Kaur.

Dhaliwal was reportedly 170 pounds, 5 feet 8 inches tall, with a tattoo on his left hand. If seen, "do not approach and call police immediately," the police said, adding that "he should be considered armed and dangerous."

On April 18, police detained two of his family members in Moncton, New Brunswick. They were identified as Amarjit Dhaliwal, 50, and Pritpal Dhaliwal, 25. They were accused of providing an after-the-fact accessory to murder.

"Dharam Singh Dhaliwal is being strongly encouraged to seek legal representation and turn himself up by Peel Regional Police. Anyone discovered aiding or harbouring Dharam Singh Dhaliwal would face the appropriate charges, the statement stated.

When police learned of the gunshot on December 3 late at night, at 10.40 pm, it was at a petrol station in the GTA town of Mississauga. She was discovered at the location with what appeared to be gunshot wounds. The emergency personnel tried to save her life, but she died as a result of her wounds.
