Ditch these wrinkle-forming habits right away and stay forever young

People who work in the sun are more prone to get wrinkles at a young age. "Wrinkles can be avoided by wearing clothing that covers the skin, such as long sleeves or a hat," Dr Babbar advised.

    Digital Desk: Wrinkles
are an inevitable outcome of the ageing process. However, scientists believe
that, in addition to growing older, some practises might hasten the development
of wrinkles. So, if you're concerned that you're doing these blunders
    unwittingly, we're here to help.

    Some factors that must
    be considered are as follows:

    Exposure to the sun

according to Dr Sandeep Babbar, medical director and dermatologist at Revyve
Skin, Hair, and Nail Clinic in Faridabad. "UV radiation from the sun can
penetrate the skin's deepest layers and break down collagen, making the skin
less flexible." So, whether you're inside or outside, driving or just
lounging by the window, always use sunscreen that's appropriate for your skin
type. Given the current weather conditions, SPF 30 or above is advised.
Indirect solar rays may also cause wrinkles. People who work in the sun are
more prone to get wrinkles at a young age. "Wrinkles can be avoided by
wearing clothing that covers the skin, such as long sleeves or a hat," Dr
    Babbar advised.

    consumption

Smoking frequently lowers blood flow to the
skin, hastening ageing. "Alcohol dries out the skin. As a result, its
strength and flexibility suffer. Wrinkles appear as the skin begins to droop.
So, for the sake of your skin, stop drinking and smoking," Dr Karuna
Malhotra, cosmetologist and aesthetic physician at Cosmetic Skin Clinic in New
    Delhi, advised.

    Squinting

Squinting, as well as more aggressive facial
movements like furrowing your brows and frowning, can add to wrinkles,
according to Dr. Malhotra. "When you squint, your face muscles contract.
As a result, your skin cells are compressed and lose suppleness. "Many
people have a tendency to squint, which needs to be controlled," Dr
    Malhotra stated.

    Stress is a major
    contributor

    Dr. Babbar stated
that as we age, our bodies create less collagen, and stress also reduces
collagen production. This can result in inflammation. "As we age, collagen
loses its flexibility and rigidity, making it less effective at promoting skin
regeneration and wound healing." "A high level of the stress hormone
cortisol can degrade collagen and elastin in the skin," Dr Babbar
    explained.

    Skin dehydration

    According to Dr.
Malhotra, dry skin is more prone to wrinkles. "People with dry skin
produce less sebum, the skin's natural moisturiser that acts as a barrier to
protect your skin from the effects of the weather." "Moisturise at
least twice a day to prevent wrinkles," said DR Malhotra.

    Inadequate sleep

    Skin healing is
hampered by a lack of sleep. "The skin's ability to retain moisture and pH
levels are both compromised." "All of this leads to insufficient
collagen formation, which accelerates the development of wrinkles," Dr
    Babbar explained.

    Excessive usage of
    cosmetics

    Cosmetics can
enhance your skin, but using too many of them might have the opposite impact,
according to Dr. Malhotra. "They could cause rashes, edoema, clogged
pores, and other negative outcomes," Dr Malhotra stated.

    Food deficiencies

    According to experts, nutritional deficiencies
cause breakouts, rashes, dry skin, and wrinkles to appear before their time.
"If you don't get enough vitamins, your skin may become dry, pigmented,
dull, or overly oily." Your face and body reflect the consequences of the
food you consume. Include vitamins C, D, B, E, and K in your diet; these
nutrients are essential for keeping good skin, according to Dr. Babbar.

    What can be done?

While people seek various treatments to
remove wrinkles, experts say that making lifestyle changes like as
moisturising, applying sunscreen, eating a healthy diet, reducing stress,
exercising frequently, quitting smoking, and drinking less alcohol might help
you delay or avoid wrinkles. "For deeper wrinkles, a person may also
require procedures like microdermabrasion, botox, fillers, chemical peels, and
    facelifts," Dr Babbar explained.
