Digital Desk: Arvind Kejriwal, the national convenor of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and chief minister of Delhi, slammed actor and BJP MP Sunny Deol on Saturday for not visiting his constituency since winning the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
Kejriwal stated that the people should vote for "aam aadmi" (the ordinary man) in the general elections that are set for next year, claiming that "these big people" like Sunny Deol will not act.
Kejriwal was speaking at a rally in Gurdaspur, Punjab.
"You voted for Sunny Deol last time. But he didn’t come here at all. What was the benefit? We thought he was such a big actor, if we vote for him, he will do something. These big people won’t do anything," Arvind Kejriwal said.
"Vote for AAP this time. They will at least come to your use. Don’t fall for the deception of all these parties. Analyze the work they have done in the past one and half years and vote accordingly," he added.
In the past, even a few Gurdaspur locals have said that Sunny Deol never made a visit to the constituency or carried out any development work there. Additionally, they were sorry to choose the Bollywood star to be their MP.
Posters declaring Sunny Deol missing were displayed in 2020 near Pathankot's railway station.
Notably, Sunny Deol stated that he realized politics was not for him in an interview conducted after Gadar 2's triumph in September of this year. The question was directed towards Deol's low attendance in the Parliament.
With a margin of victory of more than 82,000 votes, Sunny Deol, a Gurdaspur resident running on a BJP ticket, defeated Sunil Jakhar, a Congress candidate.
