Digital Desk: PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti narrowly escaped death on Thursday when her car had an accident near Sangam in the Anantnag region of Jammu and Kashmir, according to officials.
The vehicle of the former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister collided with a civilian car at Sangam, a police spokesman said.
Mufti was unharmed while traveling to Khanabal to meet the victims of a fire incident. But, the official stated, a policeman under her personal protection suffered minor injuries.
Even though Mufti's automobile sustained significant damage in the collision, she continued with her planned visit in a different vehicle.
According to a People's Democratic Party (PDP) official, Mufti didn't suffer any injuries and safe.
Iltija Mufti, the PDP president's communications advisor and mother of Mufti, affirmed that her mother is secure.
"Ms Mufti's car met with a terrible accident enroute Anantnag today. Thanks to the grace of god she and her security officers escaped unhurt without any serious injuries," Iltija Mufti posted on X.
Vice president of the National Conference (NC), Omar Abdullah, expressed relief that Mufti was okay but also called for an investigation to determine what caused the tragedy.
"Glad to hear that @MehboobaMufti Sahiba escaped injury in what could have been a very serious incident. I expect the government to enquire into the circumstances of the accident. Any gaps in her security that contributed to this accident must be addressed immediately," Abdullah posted in X.
