Digital Desk: Following allegations of harassment of an Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate in a document from the Election Commission, Governor Bandaru Dattatreya suspended a Haryana officer on Saturday.
When refusing the AAP permission to hold electoral rallies in the district, a computer operator at the office of the suspended official, Sub Divisional Magistrate Braham Parkash, the Assistant Returning Officer (ARO) in Kaithal, is accused of using "inappropriate language."
Through the Election Commission website, the AAP has submitted a request for authorization to hold poll rallies. The party said on Friday that the authorities' denial of its request for authorization to conduct two survey programs included derogatory wording.
According to reports, one of the computer operators at the Kaithal SDM's office used "inappropriate language" to refuse their request.
In addition to ordering police to conduct a comprehensive investigation, SDM Braham Parkash also immediately suspended five of his office's computer operators.
Leading candidate for the Haryana AAP in the forthcoming Lok Sabha election from the Kurukshetra seat, Sushil Gupta, announced that he had requested permission to hold two polling programs on April 7.
In a single instance, the response we obtained indicated in writing that the request for approval was denied. Gupta claimed that in a different instance, there were violations noted in the section where justifications for approval or denial are required.
"Using language that is so offensive can never be more shameful," he stated, asking the Election Commission to take decisive action.
Five computer operators were suspended, and police have been instructed to look into the situation, according to SDM Parkash, who was called.
Nonetheless, he would not completely rule out the chance that there was a hack on the poll body's website.
Kurukshetra is a parliamentary seat that includes Kaithal.
May 25 is the date of the sixth phase of voting in Haryana for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
The counting of votes will begin on June 4.
