There are stories of traffic jams in the area during this time of year every year because of the rise of tourists. For both residents and visitors, this usually causes problems because of the severe traffic congestion.

The Atal Tunnel is a road tunnel that runs beneath the Rohtang Pass in the eastern Pir Panjal range. It is regarded as one of the Himalayas' engineering marvels. The Atal Tunnel is the longest single-tube highway tunnel above 10,000 feet, according to the Border Roads Organization's official website. It is located on the Leh-Manali Highway in Himachal Pradesh, India.
Before the year-end festivities, police in the Shimla region said on Thursday that they expected a significant influx of tourists, according to an ANI report. The first winter carnival, which is anticipated to draw tourists to the state during this time of year, was also arranged by the mayor of Shimla City as an additional means of promoting the traditions and culture of Himachal Pradesh.
Tourists have already started to pour into the hilly state in large numbers, anticipating snowfall in the exotic locations as the year comes to an end.
In an interview with ANI, Shimla's Superintendent of Police (SP), Sanjeev Kumar Gandhi, said, "the police are expecting over one lakh tourist vehicles to roll into the hill town in the last week of this year."
