Digital Desk: An 18-year-old JEE aspirant died by suicide on Monday in Kota, Rajasthan, leaving a note for her parents explaining that she was unable to sit for the exam. Two days before her exam, she took a drastic measure.
In Kota this year, this is the second suicide that has occurred in just a week.
In the Shiksha Nagri area of Kota, the victim, who was getting ready for the JEE Mains, hanged herself in her chamber. On January 31, her exam was supposed to take place.
Niharika called her suicide as "her last option" and referred to herself as "the worst daughter" in a suicide note that the police found.
"Mummy and Papa, I can't do JEE. So, I am committing suicide. I am a loser. I am the reason. I am the worst daughter. Sorry, Mummy and Papa. This is the last option," the note read.
A student from Uttar Pradesh who was receiving private tutoring in Kota to prepare for the NEET committed suicide on January 23.
The student was a 17- or 18-year-old Mohammad Zaid from Moradabad. Zaid was discovered hanging in his room. He was residing in a hostel and enrolled in NEET coaching in Kota. There was no suicide note discovered.
In 2023, Kota, which is well-known for its engineering and medical entrance exam tutoring centers, experienced 29 student suicides. Authorities are working quickly to address the mental health problems that kids at coaching centers' demanding academic environments are facing.
