Health Minister said that beginning April 10, everyone over the age of 18 who has completed nine months or 39 weeks since receiving the second vaccination dosage would be eligible for a third preventive dose.
Digital Desk: The Centre said Saturday that private clinics could charge a maximum of Rs 150 per dose as a service charge over the cost of the vaccine, a day after the Union Health Ministry revealed the deployment of third preventative doses of the Covid-19 vaccine for the 18-plus citizenry at private vaccination clinics. It also stated that the price of the preventative dose would be the same as the price of the first dose.
"They can charge up to a maximum of Rs 150 per dose as service charge for vaccination over and above the cost of the vaccine," Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan said at an orientation meeting of state health secretaries.
On Friday, the Health Minister said that beginning April 10, everyone over the age of 18 who has completed nine months or 39 weeks since receiving the second vaccination dosage would be eligible for a third preventive dose.
On Saturday, Bhushan further stated that no new registration is required for the preventive dose because all due recipients are already listed on the CoWIN platform.
He said that all vaccines should be recorded on the CoWIN app, and the private Covid vaccination centers will offer both "online appointment" and "walk-in" registration and vaccination alternatives.
Bhushan further confirmed that the precautionary doses would be similar, which means that the vaccination given in the first two doses will also be given in the third.
During the conference, state officials were given a thorough overview of the numerous new measures added to CoWIN, including the extension of the population eligible for the preventive dose and the correction of vaccination certificates by residents.
The Centre also requested states to speed up the provision of the free Covid immunization, which includes the first and second doses, to individuals above the age of 12.
