Digital Desk: Delhi government announced on Saturday that masks will not be mandatory for people riding private four-wheelers. This new rule will be applicable from Monday when all Covid curbs will be lifted. It was decided that the penalty under this provision of the said notification will not be applicable to persons traveling together in private four-wheeler vehicles with effect from 28.02.2022 due to an analysis of all relevant facts regarding not adhering to the Covid protocol regarding the wearing of masks at public places," the order stated.

Government officials mandated masks even for single passengers in private cars due to the fact that a car on the road was also considered a public space at the height of the disease. The restriction was relaxed early this month when solo drivers were given exemption from wearing the mask inside the car.
Following the meeting of the
Delhi Disaster Management Authority on Friday, the Delhi government lifted all Covid curbs. Night curfew has been lifted and all schools of the Capital have been asked to resume physical classes from April. Similarly, the fine for not wearing a mask in public places has been reduced from ₹2,000 to 500.
