Arvind Kejriwal, following Himanta Biswa Sarma, is a coward "hiding behind the veil of immunity in the Delhi assembly...
Digital Desk: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in his maiden political rally in Assam slammed Himanta Biswa Sarma for his warning on a remark made within the Delhi Assembly, saying open threats do not befit a Chief Minister.
Kejriwal also took a dig by questioning Mr Sarma's leadership, claiming that in the last seven years, he has only engaged in "dirty politics." The Assam Chief Minister had challenged Mr Kejriwal to repeat his claim that he is being investigated in other states.
"I heard Himanta Biswa Sarma speak. He was threatening me, stating that if he came, he would be imprisoned. Assamese people are not like that; they are welcoming. They do not issue threats. Himanta Biswa Sarma should study Assamese culture and tradition "The Convenor of the Aam Aadmi Party stated.
Mr Sarma had termed Mr Kejriwal a coward "hiding behind the cloak of immunity in the Delhi assembly and speaking white lies" ahead of his journey to Assam for his party's mammoth convention.
"Let him say there's a corruption case pending against me outside the assembly premises, and I'll sue him in the same way I did his colleague Manish Sisodia," Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal told reporters in Guwahati.
In July, Mr Sarma filed a defamation suit after Manish Sisodia said in a news conference that the Assam government had handed contracts to his wife's company and his son's business partner to deliver Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) kits at market rates during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.
"I invite him to Delhi and invite him to stay with me. I'll make him tea and show him around Delhi. Such blatant threats are inappropriate for a Chief Minister "Mr Kejriwal made the remarks today in Assam, where his party is looking to gain traction.
Mr Kejriwal also asked again about the Prime Minister's educational background, claiming that today's youth are aspiring and that an uneducated person cannot lead them.
"I'd want to ask you all whether you believe voters wanted an educated Prime Minister or not. Today's youth are an aspiring force. A person who is less educated or ignorant cannot lead an aspirational generation "He stated.
Mr Kejriwal then compared his 'Delhi model' of growth to the BJP's government, claiming that other parties in the northeastern state merely 'cheated' and 'looted' people.
"You have given the Congress 52 years, the Asom Gana Parishad 10 years, and the BJP administration has been in power for the past seven years. You gave them your votes, but what did you get in return? You were deceived by these parties. We came today because the people of Assam stated they wanted us "He went on to say that Delhi has made more progress than Assam.
"We're doing fantastic work in Punjab, and if we get the chance in Asaam, we'll do a good job there as well," Mr Kejriwal added.
Mr. Kejriwal is accompanied by Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on his visit to Assam, during which they are expected to make some significant announcements.
