    Digital Desk: Conrad Sangma got elected from South Tura on the NPP ticket with a lead margin of 2,830 votes. Conrad Sangma further thanked his supporters by addressing the reporters, he said “Thankful to the people of the state for voting for our party. We are short of a few numbers so we will wait for the final results to come out, and we will decide how to go forward."

    With the election results in Meghalaya following the exit polls, no party has earned a majority. The NPP won 26 seats, making it the single-largest party. Sangma won the Tura South constituency and thanked the voters for their support. To gain a majority in the 60-member assembly, a party must win at least 31 seats. The United Democratic Party (UDP) finished second with 11 seats. 


    Five of the 60 seats in the Meghalaya Assembly were won by the Congress, while Vincent H. Pala, the party's state chairman and Shillong MP, lost by 1,828 votes to Santa Mary Shylla of the ruling NPP in the Sutnga Saipung constituency in the East Jaintia Hills. The BJP won only three seats, compared to the Trinamool Congress's five seats.
