According to insiders, the
leader went'missing' on Sunday after a heated argument between Roy and his son.
Mukul Roy, who has been suffering from health issues since his wife's death,
was recently hospitalised in February.
While his son, Subhargshu
Roy, stated that the family had filed a complaint with airport police, sources
in the police department confirmed that no formal complaint had been received
as of yet.
Roy, a former TMC number
two, joined the BJP in 2017 after clashing with the party's leadership. He was
appointed as the BJP's national vice-president.
Roy won the 2021 assembly polls on a BJP ticket and later returned to the TMC
after the results were announced.
Roy, 68, has kept a quiet
profile since rejoining Mamata Banerjee's party from the BJP one and a half
years ago. He was a crucial figure in the BJP's Bengal strategy for the 2019
Lok Sabha elections, in which the saffron party won 18 of the state's 42 seats.
Roy ran for the
Krishnanagar Uttar Assembly seat in Nadia district in the 2021 elections. He
won, but the BJP lost the election.
