‘Everyone is welcome’: Qatar World Cup organizer to gay footballer Josh Cavallo

Amid ongoing ‘human rights concerns’, the Executive Chief of FIFA world cup 2022 promises the country is tolerant and welcoming towards ‘LGBTQ'.

The excitement among the football fans for FIFA world cup 2022 is at its peak. With less than a year to go before the start of the 2022 FIFA World Cup, few controversies are surrounding the smooth functioning and ability to handle humanitarian issues, especially regarding the state's anti-homosexuality laws. The host Nation follows a strict law against homosexuality. Though homosexuality is illegal in Qatar, FIFA officials have clarified that the country is safe for LGBTQ fans and players to come and visit during the World Cup.

However, they would need to respect Qatari laws. Recently, Adelaide player Josh Cavallo, who became the world’s only current openly gay professional footballer, expressed safety concerns about his participation in FIFA World Cup next year in Qatar, executive chief Nassar al-Khater,  assured him that he would be welcomed in the country. His ( Josh Cavallo) announcement in the participation of FIFA 2022, last month won approbation from around the world. The legendry Swedish player Zlatan Ibrahimovic appreciated the decision made by FIFA and also the brave and inspiring move of the Adelaide player Josh Cavallo.
