Paris: Indian Archer Deepika Kumari designated as World number after completing her hat trick of gold medals at the Archery World Cup Stage 3 in Paris on Sunday by winning the Recurve individual event by 6-0.
Ranchi archer achieved the top spot for the first time in 2012 and on Sunday she achieves gold medals in three recurve events ie. in Woman’s Individual, Team and Mixed Pair.
The official websites of World Archery quoted Kumari as saying, “I am happy, but at the same time, I have to continue my performance like this. I want to improve that because the upcoming tournament is very important to us. I am trying my best to continue learning whatever I can.”
Deepika first team up with Ankita Bhakat and Komalika Bari to notch up the women’s recurve team gold with a comfortable win over Mexico.
She then paired up Atanu Das and the duo clinched their first World Cup gold medal as a pair after defeating the Dutch pair of Gabriela Schloesser and Sjef Van Den Berg by 5-3 after a set down.
Then Deepika defeated the Russian Elena Osipova by 6-0 in a thumping manner and with that she gains her World Number one title.
Moreover, Deepika Kumari will represent India as the female archer in the upcoming Tokyo Olympics 2020.
