Digital Desk: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced on Friday (June 23) a strong Indian team for the upcoming ODI series against the West Indies. Rohit Sharma will captain the team, with Hardik Pandya as his deputy.
Sanju Samson and Ruturaj Gaikwad have returned to the 50-over team for the Caribbean series. Gaikwad was outstanding for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, and he also played an important inning in the final against the Gujarat Titans (GT) at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Ruturaj made his debut last year before losing his spot in the team, but the campaign for CSK allowed him to stake his claim back into the national team. Umran Malik and Mukesh Kumar have also been added to the team.
Malik also reclaimed his place on the team. He seemed out of sync for the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the IPL 2023 and was left out of the side for a number of matches. The speedster is one of the fastest bowlers in the country and will be hoping to make an impact.
