travelled 2,000 km to the Leshan Giant Buddha, where he put up a large
airpod-shaped speaker to broadcast his wishes to the statue.

Zhang, the man, placed
the speaker near the ear of the 71-metre-tall Buddha statue and turned up the
volume on his phone so the deity could "hear him better."

Zhang is heard yelling
in a video that has gone viral on the Chinese social media platform Douyin,
"Do you know, giant Buddha, I'm 27 years old and I don't have a car, a
house, or a girlfriend."

He then makes a wish
list for the Buddha statue. He asks for money and a girlfriend who loves him,
not his money, according to the South China Morning Post.

"First and foremost, I want to be wealthy. I don't require
much. 10 million yuan (Rs 11.81 crore) is plenty. Most significantly, I'd
rather have a partner who is a little bit lovely, tender, and loves me than my
ten million!" Zhang stated.

After experiencing terrible luck owing to "mercury
rettograde," he chose to travel for 12 hours from China's eastern Zhejiang
region to southwestern Sichuan.

Mercury retrograde occurs three to four times a year, according
to astrology. Many people blame their problems on an optical illusion
concerning the realignment of planet Mercury.

Zhang purchased the speakers online because they were "a
good match with the Buddha."

Netizens expressed their opinions in the comments area.

"Between relying on others and relying on himself,"
one user commented, "he chose to rely on the Buddha."

"Is it possible that because you put the earphone in the
wrong ear of the Buddha, he didn't hear your wishes?" another said.
