Feeling Moody? Try these Foods to Boost your Happy Hormones

Mood swings might arise as a result of a lack of sufficient nutrition...

Digital Desk: Rapid mood swings and shifts in the emotional state could be caused by a variety of factors. Due to hormonal imbalance, many women experience mood swings during PMS (premenstrual syndrome).

However, stress, mental health issues, and nutrition do not cause all mood swings.

Nmami Agarwal, a nutritionist, spoke on Instagram about mood swings and how hormone imbalance isn't the main cause of mood swings "Mood swings - it could be more than PMS. It does not always have to be due to hormones, but it might also be due to diet "Nmami Agarwal stated in a video.

She explained that if a person does not eat accurately, then activities such as meeting your best friends and going shopping may not assist with mood swings.

"You need foods that stimulate happy hormones," she said, and also named four foods that can help cope with mood swings.

1| Healthy Spinach leaves: Spinach contains iron, magnesium, and phenylethylamine, which has been proven to enhance the synaptic levels of dopamine in the brain, a neurotransmitter that regulates human behaviour such as mood and stress. This green leafy vegetable has antidepressant properties.

2| Fermented foodstuffs: Yogurt and kimchi are fantastic probiotic options for the gut because they help you to boost your mood.

3| Protein: Eat food that contains amino acids, which are neurotransmitters that have been shown to increase mood.

4| Antioxidants: Eat antioxidant-rich fruits to improve your mood. Mulberries, blueberries, and strawberries can help you feel better.

According to Daljit Kaur, Head of Dietetics, Fortis Escorts, Okhla Road, New Delhi, "omega-3 fatty acid-rich diets are also wonderful mood-lifters. Fish, nuts, whole grain foods, berries, pineapple, and banana are high in omega-3 fatty acids," she added.
