Digital Desk: On late Tuesday evening, Khalistani separatist Amritpal Singh and his sidekick Papalpreet Singh slipped through police fingers once more in Punjab's Hoshiarpur area. While the Khalistani separatists were fleeing, the police were able to apprehend two of them.
The police stated they were pursuing a white Innova car travelling from Phagwara to Hoshiarpur on suspicion that Amritpal Singh and his associates were inside. The automobile drove passed a police checkpoint before coming to a stop at a gurdwara in Mehtiana.
According to Hoshiarpur's CID unit, the accused fled from the car near the gurdwara.
In addition to Papalpeet Singh, Amritpal Singh's attendant managed to flee with him. Yet, during the search, cops detained two of his aides.
The two arrested people were following the Innova car. According to authorities, both are originally from Punjab but were living in Lakhimpur Kheri, Uttar Pradesh.
The Punjab Police have initiated a search operation in the surrounding areas. At the time of publication, the search was still in progress.
Many photographs and videos of Amritpal Singh have surfaced on social media since the start of the police crackdown on him. Amritpal Singh, a Khalistan sympathiser, was seen wandering in East Delhi's Madhu Vihar on March 21, according to new CCTV footage released a few hours ago. He was spotted sans his headwear.
According to sources in the Punjab Police and intelligence services, the man seen in the video is Amrtipal Singh, and the man following him is his close associate Papalpreet Singh.
Amritpal Singh and his outfit 'Waris Punjab De' were detained on March 18, weeks after he and his supporters attacked the Ajnala police station near Amritsar to demand the release of an arrested guy.
According to authorities, Amritpal Singh evaded the operation in Jalandhar by changing his appearance many times and escaping in different vehicles.
A number of his accomplices have been arrested or detained by Punjab Police in connection with criminal cases involving promoting discord, attempting to murder and attack police officers, and obstructing the proper fulfilment of public officials' duties. They have applied the harsh National Security Act to some of them.
Meanwhile, Nepal placed fugitive Amritpal Singh under observation on Monday after India demanded that he not be allowed to leave to a third country and be arrested if he attempts to flee using an Indian passport or any other fake passport.
