Digital Desk: Ayodhya has set a new Guinness World Record by burning over 22.23 lakh 'Diyas' (earthen lamps) during the 'Deepotsav 2023'. Last year on Diwali Eve, the temple town set a world record with 15.76 lakh Diyas illuminated.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, who attended the celebrations, shared his excitement on his X handle.
Check out what CM Yogi Adityanath said here:
Adityanath stated that the government is investing millions of rupees to reconstruct the city and modify Ayodhya in preparation for the Ram Mandir's construction.
The Guinness Book of World Records recognised the Uttar Pradesh Government's 'Grand Deepotsav' after representatives from the organisation watched and accepted the achievement of lighting an unparalleled number of lamps simultaneously at a single site.
Meanwhile, worshippers at Ayodhya's Ram Janambhoomi prayed to Lord Ram Lalla.
The rally began at Udaya Square and proceeded across the city to Ram Katha Park. It featured performances by folk artists and "aartis." According to reports, Jaiveer Singh, Uttar Pradesh's minister of tourism and culture, initiated it.
Science and technology, women's safety and welfare, children's rights and basic education, self-reliance, and environmental and forest preservation were among the issues covered in the tableaux. They also showed many government programmes.
The number of diyas increased from 51,000 in 2017 to 4.10 lakh in 2019, over 6 lakh in 2020, and over 9 lakh in 2021, breaking a Guinness World Record.
Because the Guinness Book of World Records only recognised diyas that remained light for five minutes or longer, the total number of diyas shown across the Ram ki Pairi ghats in 2022 was 15.76 lakh.
