Digital Desk: A group of villagers in Rajasthan's Jalore district allegedly kidnapped a man who had come to see a girl, tied him to a tree, thrashed him, and poured urine into his mouth, a police official stated on Tuesday. Six people were detained after a video of the assault surfaced on social media. They also charged the man with violating the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act.
On Sunday night, the victim allegedly went to meet a girl in a nearby village, according to police. After being tied to a tree by the villagers and the girl's family, he was apprehended and brutally beaten. Following the information, the man's family members arrived at the scene and pleaded with the mob to spare him. The villagers, however, poured urine into his mouth before letting him go with a warning.
Harshvardhan Agarwalla, SP (Jalore), said a video of the incident went viral on Monday. "Even though no one came forward to file an FIR, we identified and contacted the victim and took an FIR from him," Agarwalla explained. Six people have been detained in connection with the incident, he said.
According to Agarwalla, the girl he went to meet with has also filed a complaint against him under the POCSO Act, and further investigation will begin once her statement is recorded.
