Digital Desk: Taking a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi for deriding the opposition alliance 'India', citing reviled names such as East India Company and Indian Mujahideen, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Wednesday sought to know why PM has so much hatred for the beautiful, melodious and holy name of India.
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah poked fun at Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday for criticizing the opposition alliance's name "India" and using derogatory terms like the East India Company and the Indian Mujahideen. He asked Modi why he has such strong feelings against the lovely, melodious, and revered name of India.
He reminded the PM that Nirav Modi and Lalit Modi, who looted hundreds of millions of dollars of Indian tax money and fled the country, have a surname similar to his and questioned whether they could be compared to him.
Taking to Twitter, Siddaramaiah twitted asking "Honorable Prime Minister @narendramodi, you have compared the alliance of opposition parties 'INDIA' to the East India Company and the Indian Mujahideen. Nirav Modi and Lalit Modi, who looted hundreds of crores of tax money from Indians and ran away from the country, too have your Modi surname? Can they be compared with you?”

Pointing out that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was sued for defamation, given a two-year prison sentence, and disqualified from the Lok Sabha for asking the common question stating that Lalit and Nirav too have Modi in their names. He said, "Doesn't action taken against Rahul Gandhi apply to you, for your comparison comparing India to East India Company and Indian Mujahideen.”
On Tuesday, PM Modi derided the opposition alliance INDIA, calling it the "most directionless" the nation had ever seen. He also used "reviled" names like the East India Company and the Indian Mujahideen to argue that one cannot simply mislead people by using the name of a nation.
The PM criticized the alliance of opposition parties as a collection of dishonest leaders and parties by citing the history of numerous organizations, including some outlawed extremist and terrorist outfits utilizing the country's name.
Siddaramaiah further asked, “ Prime Minister @narendramodi why do you have so much hatred for the beautiful, melodious and holy name of India? Being so impatient with the name India, will you change the name of your government programmes like Make in India, Start-Up India, Skill India etc.?”
