Mother Dairy increased milk prices by Rs. 2 per litre in the Delhi-NCR (National Capital Region) in March.
Digital Desk: Amul has hiked milk prices by Rs 2 per litre in Gujarat, Delhi-NCR, West Bengal, Mumbai and all other markets where Amul is marketing its fresh milk. The new prices will be effective from August 17.
Amul Gold will cost Rs 31 for 500 ml, Amul Taaza Rs 25 for 500 ml, and Amul Shakti Rs 28 for 500 ml, respectively. The increase of Rs 2 per litre results in an MRP increase of 4%, which is less than the average increase in food prices.
Due to an increase in the overall cost of operation and milk production, this price rise is being implemented. According to Amul, the cost of feeding cattle alone has increased by nearly 20% in the last year. According to a statement from Amul, "Considering the growth in input costs, our member unions have also boosted farmers' prices in the region of 8-9 per cent over the previous year."

On March 1, 2022, Amul had earlier increased the price of milk by Rs 2 per litre. Even back then, the firm used the rising cost of petrol and diesel to justify price hikes.
The decision was made as a result of rising operating costs and milk production, the company said.
