Delhi chief minister Atishi assured people that all possible help will be extended to the affected people…

Digital Desk: Two people were killed, a 7-year-old girl and an 18-year-old, in a building collapse in North Delhi at the Burari area. The four-storeyed structure came crashing down on Monday evening near Oscar Public School. The accident took place at about 6:30 pm, with authorities receiving a call at 6:58 pm.

So far, 12 people have been rescued, and rescue operations are still ongoing with emergency services going all out to locate those who may remain trapped under the rubble. As of now, the operation is being conducted by Delhi Police, Delhi Fire Services, District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), and the National Disaster Response Force. Local residents have expressed deep concern because several of their family members are still missing.

One person whose relatives are believed to be trapped told ANI, “I was told that some 8 persons have been admitted in the hospital. When I reached the hospital, my brother was not present, and thus I have come here. Since last night, I am here but nothing has happened regarding the rescue of my brother so far”. Two of my relatives are still stuck." The collapse occurred in Kaushik Enclave, Burari, a residential area where many are now anxiously waiting for news of their loved ones.

Delhi Chief Minister Atishi expressed her condolences to the citizens, stating that all possible aid would be delivered to the people. She further stressed that the local administration had been ordered to work out speedy relief and rescue operations. On social media, she wrote, "This incident of building collapse in Burari is really tragic. I have spoken to the local administration for immediate relief and rescue work. All possible help will be provided to the affected people."

The tragedy has, therefore, caused many to ponder the safety of structures and the stringency of regulations regarding construction.
