Digital Desk: The Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to name the new Parliament building after APJ Abdul Kalam to send a message about the country's communicative unity.
Chairman Chaudhary Anil Kumar, DPCC chairman, stated that they would like to see Prime Minister Narendra Modi name his new parliament building after Dr APJ Abdul Kalam. It will send a message about harmony and cohesion in the country.
Kumar also accused the Delhi BJP of inciting societal discontent by proposing to rename 40 historically important locations.
"As Delhi BJP fails to capitalise upon the bulldozer campaigns, they propose that around 40 historical landmarks and roads be renamed after 'great people," Kumar stated.
The Delhi unit, BJP, suggested renaming 40 villages in Delhi after victims of the 2020 Delhi riots. Ankit Sharma (IB officer) and Ratan Lal (policeman).
The BJP also requested that villages be renamed in honour of former President APJ Abdul Kalam and Batla House encounter martyr Inspector Mohan Chand Sharma.
Kumar stated that BJP should create new community centres, improve MCD schools, and offer better civic facilities in villages, urban villages and rural areas to transform the appearance of these villages. He also suggested that the BJP carpet the roads and improve sanitation facilities.
