Due to the surge in demand for power, Maharashtra fears power outages

Uddhav Thackeray, the Chief Minister, met with officials. According to the meeting's discussions, the state requires 25,000 megawatts of electricity. However, only 21,000 to 22,000 megawatts (MW) of electricity are available.

Digital Desk: On April 26, several parts of Mumbai were without power due to cable faults in the substations between Khar and Bandra. There were power outages in several areas of Mumbai and its surrounding suburbs. Tripping in the 400kV substation at Padgha caused power outages in Thane, Mulund, Matunga, Ambarnath, Badlapur, and Dombivli.

Since then, power outages have occurred due to local issues such as cable and feeder failures. Mumbai's demand peaked at 3800 megawatts (MW) on Thursday, compared to 3200-3300 MW during the summer.

Uddhav Thackeray, the state's chief minister, met with officials last week to discuss the state's power crisis.

According to the information presented at the meeting, the state requires 25,000 MW of electricity, but only 21 to 22,000 MW is available.

Under the Central Electricity Act and the MERC Act, the state government has issued notices to Adani Power (APML) and JSW. In some areas, load shedding had begun. On the other hand, the government claims that power has been restored.
