This year's International Yoga Day theme is "Yoga for Humanity." PM Modi is in Karnataka for the festivities.

Digital Desk: Yoga brings peace to the universe, Prime Minister Narendra Modi asserted on Tuesday morning as he led the International Yoga Day celebrations from Karnataka's iconic Mysuru Palace. "Yoga is no longer a part of life... it is becoming a way of life," he said emphatically.

The prime minister arrived in Karnataka on Monday, a day before Yoga Day, to launch several large-scale projects worth more than Rs 27,000. "Karnataka is a perfect example of how we can realise the resolutions of the twenty-first century by enriching our ancient culture," he said at an event on Monday evening.

To commemorate India's 75th year of independence, 75 iconic sites have been chosen for the eighth edition of Yoga Day.

According to a government statement, this year's theme, 'Yoga for Humanity,' focuses on 'Brand India at Global Stage' while showcasing its iconic places.

"This entire universe begins with our own body and soul. The universe begins with us. Yoga also makes us aware of everything within us and cultivates a sense of awareness. Yoga brings us peace. Yoga brings peace to more than just individuals. Yoga promotes social harmony. Yoga promotes peace in our countries and around the world. Yoga also brings peace to our universe." PM Modi stated at the event, emphasising the importance of spirituality.
