Digital Desk: The situation in Moreh town, Manipur, remains tense as fresh exchanges of fire erupted between security forces and armed miscreants. The incident unfolded near Ema Kondong Lairembi Devi Mandir, where armed individuals attacked IRB personnel while they slept, resulting in one casualty and another injured.

Armed miscreants ambushed security forces near Ema Kondong Lairembi Devi Mandir at around 4 am, deploying rocket-propelled grenades (RPG) and live rounds from the Chikim Village hilltop. Assam Rifles, situated just 20 meters from the IRB Post, swiftly responded, shielding IRB personnel with Bullet Proof Vehicles.

Following the initial ambush, armed miscreants struck again around 5:10 am at SBI Bank Building Dekhunai Resort, targeting the Superintendent of Special Commando with RPG from Moreh Ward No. 7 Canan Veng. Another IRB personnel sustained injuries during this attack and was promptly taken to the Medical Room of Assam Rifles at KLP for treatment.

Intense crossfire persists at the Indo-Myanmar Border Town Moreh, involving armed miscreants and a joint security forces team comprising Assam Rifles, Gorkha Regiment, BSF, Special Commando, Moreh Commando, 5th and 6th IRB, and 8 Manipur Rifles.

Notably, on January 16, Kuki Inpi Tengnoupal and Chandel issued a warning to the State Government, District Administration, and Superintendent of Police Tengnoupal. They demanded the release of Philips K. Khongsai and Hemkholal Mate within 24 hours, threatening serious repercussions otherwise.

The responsibility for any consequences was squarely placed on the Government, District Administration, and Superintendent of Tengnoupal. The situation remains volatile as security forces grapple with the ongoing clashes and the ultimatum issued by the Kuki Inpi Tengnoupal and Chandel.
