    Digital Desk: Security forces in Manipur arrested three members from Arambai Tenggol for extortion-related offenses at Imphal West district according to official police statements on Sunday. The security forces captured Thangjam George Singh (28) and his associates Abujam Narendra Singh (21) and Wahengbam Amarjit Singh (35) from Keithelmanbi on Saturday. They were accused of issuing fake challans  to commercial drivers using the Imphal-Jiribam National Highway because they extracted payments from them.

    The authorities seized nine rolls of paper and two handheld wireless sets along with other such equipment that the men used for extortion purposes when they arrested them. Leisangthem Rajesh Singh belonging to the banned Kangleipak Communist Party (Taibanganba) received arrest in Kakching district for his roles as an extorter and recruiter and kidnapper. The authorities apprehended Singh last Saturday at the Langmeidong Mamang Awang Leikai location.

    In another significant operation authorities arrested Meitram Somorjit Singh who belongs to the outlawed group NRFM while he was present in Khumbong Bazar located in Imphal West district. Authorities discovered a gun along with ammunition during his possession as well as five mobile phones and various other items. The police have intensified operations against armed militant groups to control escalating violence and extortion incidents across the area. These arrests represent a landmark achievement that strengthens the ongoing operations to achieve peace and order throughout Manipur.
