'Battle for Punjab is on': Former Punjab CM Amarinder Singh to launch his party soon

Captain Amarinder Singh, former chief minister of Punjab is set to launch his new political party. The party will contest the Assembly elections in 2022.

"The battle for Punjab's future is on. Will soon announce the launch of my own political party. This party will serve the interests of Punjab & its people. Including our farmers who've been fighting for their survival for over a year," tweeted Raveen Thukral, media advisor to Amarinder.

Singh stated he is confident of a seat arrangement with BJP in the 2022 Punjab Assembly polls. So, if farmers protest is resolved in farmers' interest then the arrangement will happen .

Captain Amarinder also added, "we are further looking at an alliance with like-minded parties. Parties such as breakaway Akali organisations, especially Dhindsa and Brahmpura parties. I will not stop till I can ensure the future of my people and my land."

Singh stated that Punjab requires political resistance and security from internal and external menaces. He also assures people he will do whatever it requires to secure order and protection, which is now at stake.

Amarinder met union home minister Amit Shah, speculating that he may join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Singh then said that the talks with the home minister centred around the prolonged farmers.

Farmers agitated against farm laws, further asking him to urgently solve the dilemma by repealing the laws and guaranteeing Minimum Support Prices( MSP).

Amarinder stepped down as the chief minister after prolonged infighting with cricketer-turned-politician Navjot Singh Sidhu. Singh had stated that he felt humiliated at how the party high command in Delhi managed the party affairs in Punjab.

The leadership asking for a Congress Legislative Party (CLP) meet bothered Amarinder, which is the right of the chief minister.
