'Humiliated': Amarinder Singh tenders his resignation from Punjab CM post

Chandigarh: Amarinder Singh resigned from the post of Punjab Chief Minister amid turmoil in the state Congress. Raninder Singh, Amarinder’s son, confirmed it and tweeted a photo of the Captain handing over his resignation to Punjab governor Banwarilal Purohit.

Earlier, he had tweeted: “Haha indeed indeed must go now as I am proud to accompany my father to Raj Bhawan when he submits his resignation as CM of Punjab and leads us as head of our family into a new beginning et all [sic].” Singh has said he will address a press conference at 4:30 pm.

The turmoil came ahead today even as the Congress has called for a  key Congress Legislative Party (CLP) meet amid complaints against the chief minister. This also comes hours after Captain was believed to have told his friends in the party, Kamal Nath and Manish Tewari, that he “cannot continue in the party with this kind of humiliation”.
