Digital Desk: As the electoral process unfolds in the northeastern states of Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, and Assam, voters are demonstrating their commitment to democracy by turning out in large numbers, despite light rains in some areas.

In Arunachal Pradesh, voters braved the rain to queue up even before polling officially began, underscoring their dedication to exercising their democratic rights. Similarly, Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma arrived at the polling booth in Tura bright and early, joining the queue and patiently waiting for over 30 minutes before casting his vote. His experience of witnessing a packed polling station reflects the heightened enthusiasm among voters, a positive sign for democracy.

Both Arunachal Pradesh and Meghalaya have two parliamentary seats each, and the high voter turnout bodes well for the democratic process in these states.

Meanwhile, in Assam, polling is progressing smoothly with active participation from candidates representing various political parties. BJP candidate Ranjit Dutta cast his vote early in the morning in his home constituency of Sonitpur, while Congress candidate Gaurav Gogoi from Jorhat urged constituents to exercise their democratic rights responsibly.

Dr. Chumben Murry, a National Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) candidate in Nagaland, emphasized the importance of voter participation, urging people to come out in large numbers and contribute to the electoral process positively.

Despite challenges and boycott calls from certain organizations, candidates like Dr. Murry remain optimistic about the democratic process, emphasizing the role of the government in addressing grievances and ensuring a fair electoral environment.

Meanwhile, Union Minister and former Assam CM Sarbananda Sonowal, after casting his vote in Dibrugarh, encouraged eligible voters, especially the youth, to participate actively in the electoral process, highlighting the significance of their role in shaping the nation's future.

As polling continues in these northeastern states, the turnout of enthusiastic voters reaffirms the resilience of democracy and underscores the importance of citizen engagement in shaping the political landscape.
