    556 more recover from COVID-19 infection in Assam; recovery tally at 5.80 lakh

    GUWAHATI: At least 556 more people recovered from COVID-19 infection in Assam over the past 24 hours, taking the total number of recoveries in the state to 5,80,491.





    The recovery rate in the state currently stands at 97.95 per cent.





    On the other hand, 636 more people tested positive for COVID-19 during the period, pushing the tally to 5,92,616. The positivity rate now stands at 0.70 per cent.





    Assam recorded 11 COVID-19 deaths in the last 24 hours, taking the death toll to 5,710.





    Of the new cases, Kamrup (M) reported 124 cases, followed by Sivasagar 49, Jorhat 43 and Nalbari 40.





    The deaths reported during the period include two from Dibrugarh while Baksa, Golaghat, Hojai, Jorhat, Kokrajhar, Lakhimpur and Morigaon districts recorded one death each. The current death rate is 0.96 per cent.





    The state currently has 5,068 active COVID-19 cases.





    The new cases were detected out of the 91,028 tests conducted on Monday. The cumulative total of COVID-19 tests conducted in Assam so far is 2,21,37,235.





    On the other hand, a total of 1,87,72,156 people have been administered with COVID-19 vaccines in the state so far.





    While 1,53,71,435 of them have received the first dose, 34,00,721 have received both the doses of the vaccine.
