Digital Desk: APS Sukanya Das, the ADCP of the Guwahati Crime Branch, has been arrested for her alleged involvement in the Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) cash-for-job scam.

With this, there are now four civil personnel arrested in connection to the scam. APS Sajahan Sarkar, APS Aoicharjya Jibon Baruah, and Assistant Employment Officer Rakesh Das are the other officials who had been earlier taken into custody.

Sukanya Das was called earlier on December 1 by the Assam Police's Special Investigation Team (SIT) in relation to the scam. However, she didn't show up in front of the SIT on the scheduled date.

Notably, as a result of the scam, the Assam government has suspended 21 civil servants in total. Eleven members of the Assam Police Service (APS), four members of the Assam Civil Service (ASC), an excise inspector, an ARCS officer, and three assistant employment officials are among the 21 suspended officers.

According to sources, the two gazetted officers received notifications from the SIT requesting that they come into the Crime Investigation Department (CID). Officers Nabanita Sarma and Kalyan Kumar Das of the Assam Police Service (APS) were the two authorities to whom the summons was served.

According to sources, ASP Kalyan Kumar Das is serving a suspension order, while ASP Nabanita Sarma is the ASP of Kokrajhar. Both police officials were summoned to appear before the CID today.
