Assam: Cannabis worth crores confiscated from house in Dhemaji
Officials stated that the total value of the seizure is estimated to be in crores. The cannabis, according to the police, was hidden inside a chamber dug into the ground.

Digital Desk: A huge hidden stash of cannabis was confiscated as Dhemaji Police in Assam carried out an operation at a residence on Tuesday, officials informed.

According to reports, Dhemaji Police conducted an anti-narcotics operation based on specific information about a large stash of cannabis kept at a residence. During the raid, police also arrested the house's owner.

According to police, 155 kilograms of cannabis were seized during the operation. The raid took place at Tipul Dutta's home at number 2 Bharali Chuk in Dhemaji.

Officials stated that the total value of the seizure is estimated to be in crores. The cannabis, according to the police, was hidden inside a chamber dug into the ground.

The police have launched additional legal proceedings against the perpetrator, Tipul Dutta.

Earlier that day, on January 25, the Government Railway Police (GRP) seized a large amount of cannabis at Guwahati Railway Station in yet another large haul.

According to sources, the troops seized approximately 40 kilograms of cannabis from the Vivek Express train, which arrived from Dimapur that morning. According to police, no arrests were made in connection with the seizure because the cannabis, which was packed in two bags, was discovered unattended in the train.

"Efforts are being made to track down the accused person involved in the cannabis smuggling," a police official said. The seized cannabis is estimated to be worth 20 lakhs.
According to reports, the cannabis was smuggled from Dimapur and was on its way to Kanyakumari before being apprehended in Guwahati.

It should be noted that the GRP seized 109 kilogrammes of cannabis from a Howrah-bound Kamrup Express train that was stationed at Guwahati Railway Station earlier this month.
The seized cannabis is said to have a market value of around Rs 54 lakhs. The cannabis was discovered in an unattended large rucksack stored beneath a train seat.

Prior to that, the GRP foiled a drug smuggling attempt in Guwahati by seizing a large consignment of opium worth around 10 lakhs from the New Delhi-bound Rajdhani express train.
