Assam: Laser show at Rang Ghar for ‘Mann Ki Baat’ sparks controversy
The All Assam Students' Union (AASU) has also condemned the matter and said that it will not be accepted for acts of this nature intended to hurt Assamese people's religious emotions.

Digital Desk: A laser light show that was held at the Rang Ghar in Sivasagar, Assam, ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 100th "Mann Ki Baat" episode has drawn criticism from different political parties and organizations across the state.

The BJP has organised 4 lakh sites around the country and abroad as part of a mass outreach programme to celebrate PM Modi finishing the 100th episode of "Mann Ki Baat," which will be broadcast on All India Radio on Sunday.  According to reports, Assam's Rang Ghar will also take part in the programme for the general public to commemorate the gala event.

However, the planned laser light show at the Rang Ghar has caused controversy because it is thought to have maligned the pride and souvenir of the historic monument. Many people have spoken out against the pavilion's contradictory past, including Akhil Gogoi, a Sivasagar MLA and President of the Raijor Dal, who has slammed the state government's insistence on the matter.

When speaking to the media, Akhil Gogoi stated, "We can never permit any kind of laser show to take place on the Rang Ghar that depicts the historical treasures of any other culture aside from the Assamese culture. It is unacceptable for the government to present an incorrect narrative, particularly in the case of Ranghar, which is Assam's historical treasure and source of national pride. I have written about the matter to all relevant authorities, including state Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma."

The All Assam Students' Union (AASU) has also condemned the matter and said that it will not be accepted for acts of this nature intended to hurt Assamese people's religious emotions.

However, the Trinamool Congress has also criticised the state government for the serious issue.

Dilip Kumar Sharma, chair of the TMC Media Department, spoke on the matter, saying, "We will not accept the distortion of our heritage of culture for the fulfillment of any party's political goals. The Rang Ghar is a source of our pride. The TMC demands an apology from the Assam Governemnt to the people of Assam.”
