Digital Desk: A firing incident occurred along the India-Bangladesh border in Assam's Karimganj district on Tuesday night.

Sources claim that the firing incident occurred in Nilam Bazar, where the Assam police launched an operation based on information they had received to arrest the miscreants who had tried to enter the border illegally.

Speaking to the media, DSP GD Sarma stated, "After obtaining information about criminals entering the border, we arrived at the ambush spot and ordered them to stop, but they didn't follow our instructions. So we had to start firing at them."

"Because the area was covered with mud, they took advantage of it and fled the scene. Despite missing the opportunity to apprehend them, we began to explore the area and found a sharp weapon, sandals, rope, stolen animals, and many other things. Our search is still ongoing," he added.

"At this point, I would like to state that the Assam Police will be strict with cattle smugglers, irrespective of their nationality," he said.

It has been reported that the miscreants tried to steal cattle from houses in border areas multiple times.
