    Assam governor Jagdish Mukhi hospitalized, tested Covid-19 positive

    Digital Desk: Assam governor Jagdish Mukhi was hospitalized after testing positive for Covid-19. Mukhi tested positive for the infection on Wednesday.





    "The governor was admitted at the Apollo Hospital in the city last evening. He is in a stable condition," an official stated.





    However, Jagdish Mukhi's wife has tested negative for the infection and is presently staying at Raj Bhawan. 





    The surge of Covid-19 in the state has created concern among the individuals. On Wednesday, Assam recorded 3,274 new COVID-19 cases, 437 more than the prior day, increasing to 6,35,050, a National Health Mission (NHM) bulletin stated.

    Kamrup Metropolitan has registered 1,138 fresh cases, up from 870 on Tuesday, while 287 new infections were recorded in Cachar and 172 in Jorhat and Kamrup (Rural).





    The bulletin stated that the death toll climbed to 6,189 as four more individuals - two from Dibrugarh and one from Cachar and Sonitpur - succumbed to the virus.





    At least 731 people were cured of the virus throughout the day in terms of cured individuals. This number takes the total recoveries to 6,15,722.





    Moreover, NHM informed that more than 3.96 crore doses of Covid-19 vaccines had been administered in the state so far.
