Digital desk: In a remarkable move towards improving infrastructure, the Central government has sanctioned Rs. 421.15 crores to build a 4-lane Gauripur Bypass in Assam along NH-17 (New)/NH-31 (Old).
With a total length of 9.61 kilometers, the bypass is expected to improve safety precautions and ease traffic in the area.
The project, which is reportedly located in the Dhubri region of Assam and runs from Dumardoha Pt-II to the Baladmara road, intends to improve overall safety standards while reducing the risks connected with the current highway's steep bends.
Furthermore, it is anticipated that this endeavor will be crucial in lowering the number of accidents and improving commuter convenience for both locals and visitors.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma thanked the initiative for taking the step in response to the allotment.
“We are extremely grateful to Hon’ble Union Minister Shri Nitin Gadkari Ji for this generous allocation. The proposed four-lane Gauripur Bypass will enhance the Ease of Living of the people of Dhubri district by reducing congestion and enhancing safety,” remarked CM Sarma.
The project is expected to yield substantial benefits for the people and commuters of the region, incorporating extensive road safety measures and representing a positive step towards enhanced safety standards and connection.
